The next chord is called the five chord. Although the numbers of the chords chang depending on the mode being played, its useful to remember the chords in the major sequence – so they never change in relation to the home fret. 

The fifth chord is a major chord and is played like this:

Notice where it is placed in relation to the home fret.

The main useful alternative chord is a dominant 7th which can be easily played like this:
